What the hell is this shit???

I'm not a card carrying member of the Tinfoil Hat Brigade, but I do NOT like how that looks.

ETA: Going public with this because it's farking scary and people need to see this.

Day late and dollar short ETA: [livejournal.com profile] principia_coh has a handy dandy template to edit as needed for your letters to Senators and Representatives.

You know what ? At this point, my tinfoil hat has a tiny tinfoil hat of its own.

Please, please, my fellow Americans- can we just elect Obama already and try to scrape together our remaining civil rights ?

I'm really eternally grateful for dual citizenship. And being able to extend that protection to my husband and kids.

England is sounding REALLY good.

The more I think about it, the more freaked out I am.

To borrow a phrase from my beloved Rachel Maddow: I need someone to talk me down.

No but I just sent mail to my senators. I'm quick like that

I've emailed mine as well. This is absolutely outrageous.

I've emailed both of my Senators, each of whom happens to serve on the Armed Services committee. Convenient, that.

----------------------------

I was appalled to read in The Army Times (http://www.armytimes.com/news/2008/09/army_homeland_090708w/) that U.S. Army personnel are going to be assigned to vaguely defined domestic duties, including what sounds like what would normally be considered standard law enforcement activities, or National Guard duties.

It would never be appropriate to put regular Army troops on the ground in the United States, but the fact that this move is taking place in the weeks leading up to the national election is frankly disturbing in the extreme.

This would be an obvious and gross violation of the critical principles of the Posse Comitatus Act, and I would urge you to take action to keep this frightening move from taking place.

Sure, although I would encourage people to personalize it so that it doesn't sound like the product of some mass boilerplate mailing.

I also wrote them about the language in the bailout bill saying that the Treasury Secretary can do literally whatever he wants purusuant to the Act without legislative or judicial review.

King George needs to go take a flying leap.

Finally got around to linking it. >_< It's been absolutely bonkers around here since yesterday.

Yeah the bailout is bothering me as well. I'm watching Dodd on Bloomburg channel right now and and the stock market ticker at the bottom of the page is nothing but red. It's more than a bit spooky.

I've been humming a certain Disney's Robin Hood song all morning.

What the HELL????

And why the hell isn't the media all over this like white on rice?

This is ridiculous. [makes plans to allocate some of today's paycheck to the Obama campaign and to find out who her Congresspeople are]

I don't know. Our media is so far gone, it's pointless. I found out about this from a fellow Farker.

I'm not a tinfoiler, but I've been saying ever since they started putting local militias (aka the National Guard and Reserves) on heavy rotation into Iraq - heavier than the Army proper - thus keeping them away from their communities for extended periods of time that they were doing it for a reason.

The current excuse may be the economy, but my gut tells me it's more along the lines of 'when y'all elect Barack Obama and we decide we're not quite ready to leave yet.'

I've had a bad feeling for a while, but given my family history, I fear I may have overcompensated in reassuring myself that things like this would never stand.

I scared. I feel like crying. I'm sure I'll be throwing things before long.

I'm think Mexico might be in for an illegal immigration problem as people stream south of the border to escape the mess that America seems to be becoming. Canada would be better and I like the cold, but the joke wouldn't have been the same...not that it was all the funny in the situation to begin with.

Well, my first option would be to invoke my British citizenship. I have blood rights to it thanks to my father, despite becoming a US citizen, and because my sister was born there.

But if all bets were off? Yeah. CANADA HERE I COME.

*blinks* You know I probably wouldn't have known about this if I hadn't stopped and seen this post. This, along with everything else that's going on is terribly depressing and nerve racking.

I hope this actually gets out to the media so that it gets attention but then again it's so hard to trust any reliable news sources today.

*frustrated sigh*

The media is useless except for small outlets. The media has been bought out by corporations. Idiocracy, here we come.

It's extraordinarily depressing. And it's damned hard to not panic.
